The Tayrona National Natural Park is one of the most important parks in Colombia. The creation of this park dates back to 1964 due to its high biological and archaeological value..

Formerly, the area was inhabited by the Tayrona, who were divided into four ethnic groups: Koguis, Kankuamos, Arhuacos and Wiwa. Currently, there are still different indigenous settlements, some of which are closed to the public, as is the case of Pueblito, in order to preserve their culture and traditions. (We will pass by the «gate» to Pueblito during our excursion).

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Wednesday, May 29

Our exciting adventure in Tayrona Park begins in Santa Marta on Wednesday, May 29. We will meet at the hotel where we will spend the next night (after the night at the Tayrona), offering the option of leaving part of our luggage if necessary. We will make the group introductions if there are people who join us in Santa Marta and after a briefing explaining the next two days in the park, a taxi will take us to the entrance of Calabazo

The walk is about 8 km with a gradient of 350 m (positive), and we will end at our accommodation, a wooden cabin in Playa Brava. Our last route took us approximately 3 hours in total, including stops to take photos, buy drinks and rest.
Keep in mind that the temperature will be above 30 °C, with tropical humidity typical of the jungle, and thermal sensations will reach 35-36 °C. After eating and resting, we will visit a waterfall that is about 20 minutes from the beach, to cool off.

Day 2 – Thursday, May 30

The next day, Thursday, May 30, early in the morning, we will head again to the top of the mountain, this time in the direction of Pueblito (a Tayrona town currently closed to the public and tourists), and then go down to the beach nudist from Boca de Saco.

This section is approximately 5 km with a gradient of 350 m; We completed it in about 2 hours and 15 minutes. We can spend a good time on the beach, generally lonely because of its nudist status (although not official). It is not safe to swim because of the dangerous currents, but we can cool off in the waves.

When we get tired of playing, we will head in about 15-20 minutes to the tourist area of Cabo de San Juan, where we will enjoy a meal. From there, we will follow the coast to Cañaveral, where a small bus will take us to the park exit to Zaino (the usual entrance).

From Boca de Saco (nudist beach) to Cañaveral there are approximately 7 km and a difference in elevation of about 100 meters. Therefore, this day we will travel a total of about 12 km with a gradient of 450 meters.

In Zaino, we will take a bus that will take us to the Santa Marta bus station, which is near the hotel. We will arrive and rest to go out to dinner in the beautiful city of Santa Marta and enjoy the party.

Day 3 – Friday, May 31

Friday, May 31, will be a day of transition, after having breakfast in Santa Marta, we will take public transportation that will take us to Cartagena, where they will pick us up to go to the Nudist Festival that begins this Friday afternoon.
